8 Romantic-Comedies That are Worth watching

789

There are so many romantic comedies produced but here is the list of a few of them I would like to recommend:

1. When Harry met Sally

It is a 1989 American romantic comedy written by Nora Ephron and directed by Rob Reiner. It stars Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally. The story follows the title characters from the time they meet just before sharing a cross-country drive, through twelve years or so of chance encounters in New York City. The film raises the question “Can men and women ever just be friends?”.
This movie also received Oscar nomination.

2. You’ve got mail.

Awww! The cutest, sweetest most amazing movie ever, starring Meg Ryan and everyone’s favorite Tom Hanks. It was released in 1998. The film is about two people who know each other only through internet and unaware that they are also business rivals.

3.Sleepless in Seattle.

This romantic-comedy-drama movie was released in 1993. It is directed and co-written by Nora Ephron, based on a story by Jeff Arch. It stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. A recently widowed man’s (Tom Hanks) son calls a radio talk-show in an attempt to find his father a partner.

4. Notting Hill:

Notting Hill is a 1999 British romantic comedy film set in Notting Hill, London, released on 21 May 1999. The screenplay was by Richard Curtis. The main characters are Hugh grant and Julia Roberts. The life of a simple bookshop owner(Hugh Grant) changes when he meets the most famous film star(Julia Roberts) in the world.

5.Silver linings playbook:

This is a bit different and a bit newer. It was released in 2012, written and directed by David O. Russell. It’s about two mentally disturbed people who are forced to spend time together as a cure for their illness. The film has Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as lead roles. It received eight academy award nominations.

6.50 First dates:

50 First Dates is a 2004 American romantic comedy film directed by Peter Segal and written by George Wing. The film stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) is a man afraid of commitment up until he meets the beautiful Lucy (Drew Barrymore). They hit it off and Henry thinks he’s finally found the girl of his dreams until he discovers she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the very next day. Sandler and Barrymore won an MTV award.

7. Sweet Home Alabama:

Sweet Home Alabama is a 2002 American romantic comedy film directed by Andy Tennant, starring Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas. New York fashion designer Melanie (Reese Witherspoon) suddenly finds herself engaged to the city’s most eligible bachelor. But Melanie’s past holds many secrets, including Jake (Josh Lucas), the redneck husband she married in high school.

8. Kate and Leopold:

This one is actually categorized as a science fiction. In my opinion, it is as romantic as it is comedy. It tells a story of a duke who travels through time from New York in 1876 to the present and falls in love with a woman in modern New York. The film is directed by James Mangold and stars Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman, and Liev Schreiber. It was released in 2002.

So, that was the list of my favorite romantic-comedies everyone would love to watch!
