Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may attain taqwa. (2:183)
Ramzan, the most blessed month out of all has once again started in full swing. Muslims all around the globe have welcomed the holy month with zeal and enthusiasm. Allah s.w.t has mentioned repeatedly in Quran about observing Fast in Ramzan as a source of gaining Taqwa. The Term taqwa is being translated as a way of shaping one’s life according to the commands of creator. The month of Ramzan is a primary source of attaining Taqwa, as in this month, we refrain from the halal like, eating, drinking etc. on the Command of Allah s.w.t. Just to prepare ourselves to retract from haram in long run.
Some steps of Attaining Taqwa are given below. i
- Submit yourself to Will of Allah:
The primary purpose of this month is to ensure submission of humankind to the Command of Allah s.w.t. In suhoor, we do not eat anything soon after Call for fajar. Why? Because that’s the command of Allah. In futoor, even though we have variety of foods in front of us, but our hands do not outreach towards them until call for Maghreb. Why? Because that’s the order of Allah, we are abiding to. Without asking any question. Literal meaning of Islam is submission and Ramzan is a connotative exercise to strengthen our submissiveness towards Almighty.
- Boycott Ramzan transmissions:
Every other sane Pakistani is annoyed by galloping trend of Ramzan transmissions, as it has surely curtailed the essence of holy month of Ramzan. It is convenient for everyone to talk the talk, now it is high time to walk the walk. These transmissions are augmenting successfully because of increased viewership, with every passing year. In order to preserve the spirit of Ramzan boycott these futile transmissions, where people are more concerned to grab a bike (or a Plane in case of BOL’s transmission) on behalf of their conscience. Ramadan is meant to exercise our patience and ability to resist our lust. On the contrary, continuously clinging to your tv screen can spoil the crux of Fast.
- Give charity as much as you can:
We fast in order to relate to plight of those who are bound to live their lives below par, not out of option, but out of no option. Be a helping hand, give charity as much as you can, without letting anyone know. Charity liberates your soul and enrich your conscience.
Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) said: Give Charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity. (tirmidhi)
- Be a better person:
The best Ramadan is the one that makes any difference in your life. No one is perfect. We all have our short-comings in our lives. However, it is never too late to repent, and what can be a better starter than the month of Ramzan. Try to leave out at least one trait that you feel lets you down as a human. Be it lying, jealousy, backbiting, pride, arrogance, showing off or cursing others etc. There is nothing good, associated to them. You will never regret letting go of them.
