Nation Mourns Over Death Of Asma Jahangir And Qazi Wajid… Indeed A Major Loss

Today, Sunday, February 11, 2018 is the most depressive day in Pakistan as the two most popular personalities passed away; the renowned actor Qazi Wajid and the lawyer Dr. Asma Jehangir. These two death are the major loss of the country.

Dr. Asma Jahangir, the leading human rights lawyer died of cardiac arrest. She was born in Lahore, got primary education from Convent of Jesus and Mary, received B.A degree from Kinnaird and LLB from the Punjab University in 1978. She was the first woman to serve as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association. She died at the age of 66 as she was moved to the hospital due to the heart attack on Saturday night where she died early on Sunday.


The Chief Justice of Pakistan , Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, other Supreme Court judges, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Asad Umer, Bakhtawar Zardari, Babar Awan,  President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas and others expressed deep sorrow and grief on this sad demise.  She had a prominent career both as a lawyer and social right activist. She was unmatched in her personality and career.  As the news of her death broke condolences started pouring in from the lawyers, rights activists, and politicians terming it a “great loss” for not only Pakistan but for the entire South Asia.

The 87 year old actor Qazi Wajid passed away in Karachi on Sunday due to heart palpitations late last night. He was born at Lahore and received early education from there.  His classics including Dhoop Kinaray, Khuda ki Basti, and Tanhaiyan were the most loved dramas he played in. he was awarded with a Pride of Performance Award in 1988 by the government of Pakistan. His death is a big loss for the Pakistan industry.



The role of Dr. Asma Jahangir and Qazi Wajid is memorable and wonderful. They will be remembered and loved by the people of Pakistan. May Allah grant them the highest place in Jannah and may their soul rest in peace.
