Kami Sid is Pakistan’s first transgender model and a great activist. Kami in the past has made several headlines and now again the transgender activist is in the limelight.
The reason for being in limelight this time is that, Kami Sid’s short film ‘Rani’ has made it to international film festival and without a doubt it is a great achievement for everyone who was the part of ‘Rani.’
Kami recently announced at the Instagram that ‘Rani’ will premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
While announcing the great news, the transgender model said, “Super excited to finally announce that Rani will premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 30th.
If you’re in LA or Orange County, do come out and watch some awesome films.”
The short film ‘Rani’ is produced by Rizvilia Productions and is about a Pakistani transgender who sets out to take good care of an abandoned baby. The story of ‘Rani’ also addresses the social issues of the society.
However, the Newport Beach Film Festival at which ‘Rani’ will premiere is basically held every year in California, USA. The festival screens multi-genre, independent and studio films from all over the world according to the Express Tribune.
Anyhow, from fashion shoots to short films, Kami Sid has successfully achieved a prominent place in the limelight in Pakistan where at one side transgenders do receive ill treatment while at the other side, they are becoming first transgender newscaster and model of this country.
So, eventually, yes, we have not yet achieved the completely changed and progressive society for the transgender community but we are surely on our way to give them what they really deserve.
Most importantly, the transgenders themselves are striving hard to get their due place in society which will result in making a healthy and prosperous nation.
